Production Details Origin Paarl. Yield 2 tons per hectare. The 2023 vintage had ideal weather conditions with no severe heat waves; pressing conditions remained favorable until the end of February and grape quality was excellent in one of the smallest harvests in more than a decade. Grapes were harvested early morning while cool, lug boxes were further cooled in cold rooms, and bunches and berries were slowly sorted before pressing. Fermentation was done slowly at 12C. The wine was left on the lees with regular battonage. A portion underwent malolactic fermentation. Oak maturation occurred in first- and second-fill barrels for 6-9 months, while a portion was aged in a concrete egg to enhance mouthfeel and minerality. Final blending took place prior to bottling. Free SO2 21 mg/l. VA 0.59 g/l.
