Production Details The 2023/2024 season in Stellenbosch delivered a smaller crop but one with excellent potential for quality. Early budburst and flowering set the stage for a cool, drawn-out growing season, allowing for even ripening and the development of vibrant fruit flavours. Well-timed December rains brought much-needed relief to the vines but also increased disease pressure, requiring careful canopy and crop management. The grapes were hand-picked during the morning and kept in a cool room at 10 degrees Celsius before crushing the next day. Before filling the tank we put 30% whole bunches and softly stomped with our feet to release juice before we filled the top with the crushed grapes. Ferment started spontaneously before inoculation with Laffort RB2 yeast. Pressing after 7 days on skins and Malo-lactic fermentation was completed in neutral barrels. This was the 3rd vintage that grapes were harvested from these blocks planted in 2020. The vineyards are East facing on a gradual slope with underlaying clay and decomposed shale soil. The vineyard are on a 4wire hedge trellis system.
