Production Details The wine was matured for 18 months in small French oak barrels. Only the best barrels in the cellar were selected for this wine. Barrel profile: 25% first-fill, with the balance in third- and fourth-fill barrels, all 100% French oak. In line with Mooiplaas's minimal-interference approach, the wine was bottled with only the slightest pre-bottling filtration and no stabilization. A sediment is natural and to be expected.
Tasting Notes
Nose: cherries, plums, fynbos
Palate: dark colour, tight grip of oak tannins, excellent fruit, lingering finish, smoothness
Food Pairing rich beef, lamb, venison stew, grilled leg of lamb stuffed with wild garlic and rosemary
